2016 was a year replete with giving and loving-kindness, intensive activity and fantastic achievements at Chai Ami. We’re exceedingly grateful to our dedicated partners in charity—the organization’s rabbis, settlement rabbis, social workers, welfare officers, municipal councilors, and loyal volunteers whose efforts transform Chai Ami’s dream of chesed into reality.
Chai Ami is proud of its accomplishments throughout Year 2016:
We led many families out of the vicious cycle of debt and helped them regain financial stability.
We assisted many families by paying bills to municipal authorities and utility companies (property tax, water, electric) and purchasing basic home furniture and appliances, (refrigerators, ovens, beds, etc.)
We helped many families by subsidizing the cost of dental care.
We funded life-saving medical care, surgeries, and transported patients abroad for medical treatment.
We subsidized the wedding costs of dozens of orphaned and disadvantaged brides and grooms and assisted them in the purchase of their basic household needs.
We distributed store vouchers and large sums of money to hundreds of families before the holidays. All financial help was provided with utmost discretion, with monies relayed to local rabbis and welfare officers in order to preserve the dignity of the recipients.
Heating Houses, Warming Hearts—We distributed heaters and blankets to hundreds of families in Israel before the start of winter.
We distributed hundreds of store vouchers weekly to help families cover the costs of Shabbat.
We launched and successfully completed Special Campaigns for severe cases, i.e. kidney transplant, surgeries, cancer victims, transportation of patients to hospitals abroad, etc.
We funded the costs of developmental therapy for dozens of children and adolescents, helping them overcome challenges and achieve their maximal scholastic and emotional potential. Therapies include art therapy, horseback riding therapy, extracurricular activities, private tutors, hydrotherapy, etc.
We supported teens at risk by sponsoring special programs and offering scholarships for vocational study that provides troubled youth with the tools for healthy, happy, productive futures.
We distributed thousands of items of clothing to disadvantaged families in Israel.
We granted financial assistance to the elderly and Holocaust survivors in need.
Chai Ami says a huge “Thank You!” to all our fabulous volunteers and patrons.
Your generous assistance and support made 2016 a year of success and charity, and helped us save lives and keep families together!
We couldn’t have done it without you!
